Hoosier Sugar Cream Pie
3/4 cups all-purpose white flour
1 cup white sugar
1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
1 cup milk
1 t vanilla extract
3 T unsalted butter
Ground nutmeg for dusting top of pie
1 egg, beaten
1 single pie crust
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
Combine all the ingredients, except for the butter, nutmeg and the egg, in a mixing bowl using a whisk. DO NOT OVER MIX as this could make the filling not set. Just mix enough to combine the ingredients - maybe 30 seconds or up to a minute.
Pour into the pie crust.
Dot the top of the pie crust with the butter and sprinkle the top evenly with the nutmeg.
Brush the edge of the crust with the beaten egg.
Bake for 20 minutes at 400 degrees, then reduce the temperature to 375 and bake for an additional 30 minutes.
Cool on a rack, then refrigerate and serve cold.
My family loved this!!! Do I need to say more!! My husband was asking me when will I be making another one - it is THAT good!!!
