More Winter!

2/2/2012

So Phil saw his shadow this morning!  Hmmm, more Winter, I guess.  Doesn't sound too terribly bad considering that the temperatures have been hovering in the 50's for most of the "Winter."  I think I can handle another 6 weeks of this!!

Of course, I could do without all the rain!  My basement has flooded one too many times!!  I wonder if that means we will have another record breaking rainy season this year!  Everyone seems to think that this means we will have a hot summer.  I don't think so.  I remember a couple of years ago when we have an unseasonably warm winter, we had a cooler summer.

Anyway, my goats and chickens are loving it.  Personally, I am not minding it myself.  Last year, I had to deal with frozen water buckets and locking up my animals when hungry coyotes and foxes came down from the woods looking for something to eat.

Bring the winter on, Phil, I don't mind!

Raising goats were never in "the plan."  If you had told me 12 years ago that I would be raising goats, I would have laughed in your face!  But, at a Valentine's Day Party at my son's Kindergarten, the local Vet showed up with two pygmy goats.  As the saying goes, it was love at first sight.  And the rest is history . . .
