My Saanens took their good ole sweet time in delivering their babies. Had me worried because I usually have babies running around the barn in early February. The babies didn't make an appearance until the last week in February.
Kidding started just as the new year got rolling. Salem, one of our Lamancha does, gave birth to two little does January 6. Surprise, surprise, surprise! Apparently, she had been bred when I bought her! So we named the two Midnight (on the left) and Star on the right (because of the little white patch on her forehead). My Saanens took their good ole sweet time in delivering their babies. Had me worried because I usually have babies running around the barn in early February. The babies didn't make an appearance until the last week in February. The final tally was 6 does and 3 bucks. I was very pleased with this years kids! This is Bacardi's baby, Brandi, another Lamancha doe.

AuthorRaising goats were never in "the plan." If you had told me 12 years ago that I would be raising goats, I would have laughed in your face! But, at a Valentine's Day Party at my son's Kindergarten, the local Vet showed up with two pygmy goats. As the saying goes, it was love at first sight. And the rest is history . . . Categories
