The year started off with left heart catherization surgery because a stress test show 90% blockage in a main artery. Want to talk about a bad omen . . . my sister-in-law died the morning of my surgery of a heart attack. She has had a very poor health, so her death really came as no surprise. Well, my surgery showed no blockage and the heart doctor said that sometimes stress tests will chose a false positive (gee, thanks to the tune of $5,000 AFTER insurance!!). Well, at least, I know my heart is OK.
Both my father and his mother had colon cancer. So my Family Doctor thought it very wise if I had a colonscopy (my FAVORITE procedure!!) WELL . . . the doctor didn't give me a strong enough laxative and wasn't able to do the procedure the first time, so I had to come back the next day for another try which he was able to do. Unfortunately, the insurance company only pays for one colonscopy. I fought with them without much luck and ended up paying for the "unsuccessful" first colonscopy!
When my calico cat, Pudge, died last year, Bobby said NO MORE CATS!!!! For some unknown reason he relented and Max joined our family.
A month later a visit to the dog groomers to have our two shih tzus get their summer cut, found out that she also has a kitten rescue . . .
With the unexpected closing of DIRT at Findlay Market was a huge blow. Fortunately, Hyde Park Farmer's Market welcomed me back on a bi-weekly basis.
I was hired part-time at Krogers in the Apparel Department in anticipation on my husband retiring from UC Health in the Spring. Well, God had other plans . . . two visits to the ER within a two week span proved otherwise for my husband. His retirement was moved up to the end of January and his is on Family Medical Leave until then. Not exactly sure where the Lord is leading us from here, but I know He will take care of us because He always had.
Despite losing almost 35 pounds, I still am pre-diabetic. I figured as long as I stay on the "pre" side of diabetes I am OK. Apparently the diet I am on - no sugar, no salt, very little red meat, etc. etc. seems to be working.
So for 2018, I am leaving it all in the Lord's Hands. I know He will lead me in the way He wants me to go.
